I've lived in Maine since 1999. In that short time I've noticed a HUGE difference in Maine.
When I first got here I thought it was the edge of nowhere. Every weekend and sometimes even after work we would race to Portland, walk around the seaport or just go to the mall... we searched high and low looking for something - anything!
"what do people do here?" we would ask everybody we thought had a clue, they would start talking about driving here and there and my husband and I would look at eachother thinking, "there is no way we are driving that much..."
So we would stay home and watch t.v. which was actually fun, we enjoyed doing that and I sometimes wish we could do that now, but anyways the moment has passed.
Now it seems there are all the stores locally that anyone could want. The internet is such a big part of my life now I get a lot of social interaction from it... thankfully!!
People always ask me if I'm happy in Maine, the answer is a resounding YES! it is great, but I am happy that not everyone likes it because then we'd be overcrowded! I love that no one messes with you here, no one bothers you... definately the way life should be and I hope it doesn't change more.
